The CityArchRiver project, the ongoing renovation of the Gateway Arch grounds and the surrounding area, has completed two project components with four more finishing this year. The visitor center and museum renovations under the Arch and Kiener Plaza are scheduled for completion in 2017. Due to heavy rainfall and historic flooding of the Mississippi River in June and December 2015, the riverfront and Gateway Arch grounds landscape project components are experiencing some delays, but are on track to be finished this year.
Many components of the project are still scheduled to be complete in 2016, starting with the Central Riverfront in May and most of the landscaping on the Arch grounds in the fall. Kiener Plaza and the expanded and renovated museum and visitor center under the Arch are still scheduled to be complete in 2017. The map below provides updated timelines for each project component. As the date for public opening becomes closer, a specific date will be provided.
While the interior of the Arch is currently closed due to construction in the visitor center below, it is scheduled to reopen in early March 2016 when tram rides to the top will resume, the Museum Store reopens, and National Park Ranger services restart in addition to programs and exhibits at the Old Courthouse.
