Cocktail waitress 1976

In the winter of 1976, while a law student at Washington University, I got a weekend job as a cocktail waitress in this rather out of the way bar inside the Stouffer’s Riverfront. The bar was perched above a large sort of empty part of the hotel. You reached it by climbing a carpeted spiral staircase. It tended to be used for private events like a reception for Olivia Newton John which I worked. We wore rust colored polyester low cut jackets and mini skirts. Most of the time, the bar was quite empty so we would sit around and practice making interesting drinks from the bartenders guide. We also got to eat in the employees cafeteria for free. It was in the bowels of the building and did not serve the same food as the restaurants. The food was an awful lot like their frozen meals you buy in the grocery store. Of necessity, I had to learn the Playboy Bunny dip while serving drinks because my top was so low cut and my skirt was so short. That summer of 1976, I went to work as a cocktail waitress on the Goldenrod, which was a lot livelier and more fun!
